Jeffrey Shooting Star (Dodecatheon jeffreyii) is the most common Shooting Star in the park and one of the showier components of mid-elevation meadows from the Valley floor up to, most notably, Summit Meadow (range: 1200-3000m). Frequently in the company of Bistort and, near the end of their season, Camas Lilly, they put on a great display.
Called the Jeffrey Shooting Star by Botti, Jepson gives its common name as the Sierra Shooting Star. Jepson also notes that it is highly variable and intergrades with the Dodecatheon alpinum, the Alpine Shooting Star.
